The simplest form of bigger
Understanding and educating my customers is my main goal to accomplish when doing a wedding or any event. I am a big fan of Pinterest but, I also have identified that Pinterest is there as a guide for a "Vision".
Although, clients contact me mainly for decor, I actually have many contacts me for planning and coordinating help. Most times couple have the idea of what and how they want it done... just not how sure they plan to execute the look... or how to get it started. But then there are a select few who only know they got engaged "NOW WHAT"?
We will discuss the from "NOW WHAT" stage later... for now, we will just assume our couple already has majority done and just looking for decor help. For some reason most are afraid to tell me exactly what they are looking for... this is a mistake!!! I always want to hear what the client is looking for and see some examples (This is where pictures come in great handy). I look at the pictures you have sent and then I look at the venue you have chosen!!! I my goal as a designer is to match your theme or look with the venue and great a great marriage between the two. However, my job is to manage your expectations and keeping you abreast on what things cost.
I always ask the client what their max budget for decor is (EVERYONE HAS ONE... PLEASE NEVER SAY "SEND ME WHAT YOU WANT AND WE WILL GO FROM THERE" TELL THEM UP FRONT WHAT YOUR MAX BUDGET IT").
Here is a tip: Always go a few hundred below the budget and see what you get.
Now, we need to manage the look... you cannot and will not get a 50k wedding for 200 guests on a 3k budget... it's not possible (unless you have a ton of people giving you the items for free and then there is still cost).
Once again, my job is to manage expectations. So, why would you send me a 50k wedding picture and you only have 5k to spend. This is so I can see what you truly like and can select a diversion of elements out of that picture that you like and make it fit what you can afford. Say you love giant lush trees on every table (Well, we can't do that with your budget) but, maybe we can implement a few of those trees at the sweetheart table instead... or maybe a few at the entrance table and sweetheart table.
I will take a few of your "must haves" and place in your "Can affords".
My saying rings true "Your get what you pay for"... however, you can alter what you pay to fit a perfect look by adding special elements in certain places.
If you are on a stick budget the simplest form of bigger is the use some nice cylinder vases and add flower or filler to it!! This is a nice fun and less expensive way to make a magical look come to life. But even so if you want to scale it up... use this look with some pillars and chargers and by far you have a luxury look!!! OHHHHH also add a metallic (Something shiny).
I also recommend getting a table that will match the size of the one at the venue and creating a Mock (especially if you are a DIY bride... We will discuss DIY brides as well later).
When I work with couples from the planner aspect, before I even discuss getting venue... we thumb through the look they want (then the budget)!! This is so I can match the theme and budget with the proper venue that fits the theme!!! Best way to do it.
Why buy a Mansion as a venue and spend 8.5K but, can't afford the decor to carry the actual look out (I see a lot of that). This doesn't make sense. The venue should match your theme and decor to the "T". But this is where people add me for my ability to make this happen!!!
Now, you have this little bit of information... you can do this yourself!!!
